Recently...

Well, haven't posted a real post in a while. Everything here is going well... Asher is a wonderful baby, I really couldn't ask for him to be more content. He eats well, sleeps well and just does everything, well, WELL! I'm not quite sure how much he exactly weighs now but I would say 9 lbs would be a good guess... He eats pretty regularly, about every 2-3 hours. He is quite a bit bigger now than when we brought him home so we are putting him in more and more cute outfits every day which is allot of fun. His fuzi bunz (pocket diapers) fit him now too so we have him wearing them and we all love them... I really like that we are minimizing our impact on the environment and they are going to save us allot of money in the long run (they also minimize diaper rash and make his bum look so full and cute!) Hes also started smiling at us like for real- not just the gas smiles :) It seriously makes me laugh out loud when he bares his big gummy grin at me! Hes doing so well and we are just enjoying him immensely. The grandparents are going nuts, just itching to hold him and cuddle him but Skype gets them by these days. Jo-Ben's mom is coming out tomorrow and we are all so excited, she will be here for two weeks and his dad will join her for the second week. Jo-Ben has been away at a soccer tourney this weekend so its just been me and the babe, last night was pretty difficult... I really noticed Jo-Ben's absence around 4 am when I could hardly keep my eyes open for one of Asher's feedings, it really helps to have him here to help out with at least one night feeding... makes a BIG difference. Anyways, I'm going to cut this short as sleeping time is limited around here and since the little guy is down I'm going to do the same!

My sweet baby boy :)

Hey bloggers! Just wanted to say hello and post a picture of my beautiful little boy. We have friends out here who had a baby girl this weekend and she was just one ounce less than Asher when he was born but it was hard to believe as he is over 8 lbs now and when we had them side by side he looked SO big! They always say that when you have a kid time flies by and they weren't kidding! I cant believe how fast the past few weeks have gone by and that this Friday Asher will be one month old! wow! I feel like I am coming into my own with him now... the other day Jo-Ben went back to work for the first time since Asher was born and it was my first day being a Mom all by myself and Ive got to say it was pretty cool... just me and my boy. Next weekend Dad is off to Medicine Hat for a soccer tourney so we will see how 'cool' I think it is after a whole weekend alone. On his way back up here Jo-Ben is going to pick up his mom who is flying in from North Carolina and I couldn't ask for better timing, I am sure I will be ready to hand the little guy off to another set of arms and I am CIRTEN that Mom B is going to be willing and ready to hold and cuddle her little grand baby! Dad B is planning on coming a week after Mom and they will both stay for another week. We are skyping with them every day and they can hardly wait to get out here and neither can we. ANYWAYS, this Mamma has got to get some rest so that's all for now! Hope you all had a good weekend- we did! :)
ps- Asher weighed in at 8lbs and 2 oz and was measuring 20 inches long at his Dr.s appointment on Thursday last week- exact same measurements as when I was born!

Mom and Dad's first time meeting Asher

I wrote this on Easter Sunday so I'm going to post it...

Happy Easter!

This Easter brings so many blessings. Christ has risen today! We are enjoying our new baby boy who is two weeks and two days old today, happy and healthy, BEAUTIFUL spring weather that brought my very first tulip buds popping out of the ground! What an amazing thing to see, something that I planted with my own hands in the fall when my belly was just a small bump and Asher was just a spec with a steady beating heart on a screen and now shoots and a bright orangey red bloom popped out to greet me as if to say 'well done! hes here and so are we!' So cool. I have never planted anything before so I was a bit skeptical but I did it! Also, my Mom and Dad are coming to visit us today, they are currently driving somewhere through the Rockies and we are SO excited to have them come and meet their grandson. Hope that the weather stays nice for their visit. Hope you are all having a lovely Easter weekend :)

And this is me today...

So, Mom and Dad have been here for the past couple of days and its been a really great visit. They were planning on making the drive over two days but were SO excited to meet the new little gipper that they just drove the whole way here on Sunday. They arrived Sunday night and it was so cute- I was sitting on the couch with Asher and when they came they were almost scared to meet him, they were bringing things into the house and unpacking things into the kitchen or deep freeze or baby room sneaking a peak here or there in on the baby almost as if they needed to take a min to let it sink in that they were going to meet their grand baby. Finally after a few minuets of this song and dance Mom came over and smiled bigger than I have ever seen as she picked him up and held him close, kissed him & cooed him. She handed him over to a reluctant Dad who held him and just stared and talked to him- the funny thing that stuck out to me was that he was talking to him like he was a grownup, no baby talk. I didn't catch the one sided convo but I heard some advice here and there. I'm sure Asher took it to heart. :) Mom and Dad are staying at the Best Western Here in town and after a long night with the baby on Sunday night ( I think hes going through his first growth spurt!) I left the back door unlocked and Mom and Dad let themselves in in the morning and kidnapped the little guy for some one on one time with the grandparents. Jo-Ben and I got three whole hours of uninterrupted sleep- bliss! I think I have gone four hours with Asher in the house one night last week but there is just something about knowing that the baby isn't there that put me totally at ease and I slept, well, like a baby! When they returned Mom set out to clean and organize my house top to bottom & make a ridiculous amount of goo ol menno baking. Pretty awesome indeed. That afternoon we set out to Airdrie to visit my cousin Mark, his wife Bonnie and their boys who were up visiting Bonnie's parents. It was really nice to see all of them and have a visit and of course show off baby Asher :)
Today the weather took a turn for the worse as it has snowed, rained, been incredibly windy and all that good stuff that the prairies can bring upon us at any given moment (I swear the weather changes every 5 mins out here!) so we stayed inside and just hung out watching the baby, he is actually holding his head up for really long periods at a time and today while he was having some tummy time he held his head up, propped himself up on his arms and rolled over onto his back... it was so cool! I know he didn't really mean to and probably freaked himself out but wow! what a strong baby I have. It was really cool to have my Mom catch that moment with me too. I'm loving how much my Mom likes to change Asher into as many different outfits she can get him into and wants a picture taken with him whenever he gets changed & how much my Dad is enjoying holding him, talking to him and feeding him. The weather has cleared up and the sun is shining (although its setting!)

Anyways, Mom and Dad are taking a break back at their hotel and will probably be back over here tonight to hang out with Asher later tonight. Tomorrow, depending on the weather, we will either head out to Red Deer to do some shopping at Cost-Co, etc. or hang out here in Three Hills and take some long walks and hang out outside. We will have to play it by ear- which I am learning you do ALOT when you have a baby! :) Things are going really really well with Asher, he is a very content and happy baby... doesn't take much to figure him out and get him what he needs/wants and we are enjoying him IMMENSELY!
