Well, the Christmas season is
definitely in the air at the
Barkey home in Three Hills!
For Christmas this year I asked Jo-Ben if I could get a Christmas tree... we
aren't big on getting each other gifts, we would just rather get something for ourselves that we would like and call it a Christmas gift.
hahaha I guess we
aren't those types of people who 'wouldn't buy it for themselves' ... dunno if
that's a good thing or a bad thing. Anyways, my gift 'from Jo-Ben' ( I guess it was from myself since I
ordered it online and
paid for it with my credit card...
hmmmm)
So, I got an email from sears yesterday that it arrived at our pick up center here in Three Hills yesterday and was available for pick up. This afternoon we went out to do our errands (Jo-Ben had a day off) and our first stop was to get the tree. I LOVE Christmas Trees. I guess I just love decorating for holidays but Christmas is my favorite and my favorite part of Christmas decorating is the tree... I remember having 'sleepovers' with my sister under our Christmas tree staring up at the twinkling lights and all of the special ornaments. Since we have been married we have had one Christmas tree because the past two Christmases we have been living in Alberta and have spent them either in North Carolina with Jo-Ben's
fam or mine in B.C. & since we LOVE real Christmas trees 9our first Christmas together we had a real one) we decided not to put one up in case it dried up and caught on fire or something while we were gone. This year we decided to give in and buy a fake tree... I am not so partial to the fake trees but with a baby
coming and a puppy in our house we figure
it ll be way less mess to keep up with and just easier and safer. PLUS I can put it up WHENEVER I want...
muwahahahahah This means that I can even set it up on November 13
th if I want to. Which I did. The tree looks so cute! It is a
pre lit tree which is so nice and I chose the traditional colored lights, I know
allot of people are partial to the white lights and they might look classier but the colored lights remind me of being a kid so I chose color! All of our ornaments are Gold, Silver, Red and Green. The tree looks pretty traditional and I love it like that. We
don't have any personal
mismatched ornaments on it cause I put those on another little tree but we do have about a dozen glass ornaments that I bought the first year we were
married with a gift card someone gave us for our wedding from Pier 1 so that is special to us... I also have some cinnamon sticks that I have tied together with green ribbon that we used in our wedding invitations and I popped those all over the inside branches of the tree. Other than that we have tones of different sized balls in shiny and matte colors of Gold, Silver, Red and Green all over the tree and some really pretty ribbon that I wrapped all around down the tree. So in keeping the Christmas spirit going I baked some sugar cookies and sprinkled red and greed sugar on them... it might be a little bit early and I might be a crazy nesting pregnant lady but our house sure has a
Christmasy feeling going on here.
Speaking of being a crazy pregnant lady I am sure looking more pregnant these days, my belly is still really high and bumpy but its sure there! I am feeling our little guy move around but it mostly just feels like hes rolling around rather than kicking or jabbing. The funny thing about when I feel him move is that he usually only moves if I have the lap top on my belly when I'm laying on the couch,
maybe its the
pressure or the warmth but whatever it makes him move! Jo-Ben really cant wait till he gets to feel it and I can't either but right now hes not moving hard enough to feel from the outside.
So, for Christmas this year I am going to bake gifts like I did last year... It went over well especially with my father-in-law and bro-in-law...although I don't think I am going to use the same recipes as I did last year. I am thinking I am going to be doing some sort of jam filled sandwich cookie like jam jams or thumbprint cookies, some sort of
biscotti, and some different truffles. We are going to North Carolina this year so I am going to try to transport them out there with me-wish me luck!
Well, I am watching Survivor and can't concentrate on multi tasking right now so I'll post some
preggo pics and then sign off!
Ciao for now!!! :)

I had to take these pics on the end table at the top of our stairs so it looks kinda funny but Jo-Ben was watching the
Canucks so I was on my own... now either I am at 19 weeks or 21 weeks, we
aren't quite sure because my Dr. thinks that because the baby looked further developed at my 11 week ultra sound... he thought I looked like I was at 13 weeks but we had our 4d ultra sound 2 weeks ago and by the measurements they took my Dr. should know better at our next appointment a more accurate due date but then who can really pin point when a baby is doing to be born exactly. I predict April 2
nd. We will see in a few months!!
ps- I'm feeling good, getting lots of sleep and feeling like I need it, my husband bugs me
about how I 'hibernate' like every day. I'm not feeling sick as often as I did in the first 4 months so although I do get bouts of not feeling well its not as bad as it was in the beginning. I am gaining weight
appropriately as far as my Dr. is concerned (and all of the baby books/web sites). I think I am going to try to get moving and take the dog for walks to give me more energy, its hard when its SO windy out here, today was like 60 km winds all day, but I have heard that it makes you feel better to get out and have at least some
exercise and makes labor easier...
hahah anything to make it easier.
pps- that baby rolling because the laptop is on my belly thing is happening riiiiight now.
Goodnight! :)
